The impact of coaching
The impact of coaching to professional learning is undeniable – just look at the chart to the right. That’s why we offer coaching support as its own service – we know coaching is the key to transforming instruction.
(2002 Joyce & Showers, Meta-analysis)
Research reveals coaching:
Encourages collaborative, reflective practice. Teachers apply their learning more deeply, frequently, and consistently than when working alone.
Promotes positive cultural change. The conditions, behaviors, and practices required can affect and strengthen the culture of a school.
Increases teachers’ use of data to inform instruction. Improvement efforts tend to target close achievement gaps and building equity.
Builds collaborative leadership. Teaching staff feel ownership and responsibility for leading improvement efforts in teaching and learning.
