Root Literacy Design was the missing piece of our school's strategic and professional development plans. While we have always had a strong professional culture of leadership and educator investment, the Root Literacy Design team provided the expertise and the collective accountability we needed. With their support, we have been able to keep our entire organization united behind the WHY and the HOW of the Science of Reading. RLD team's approach focuses on teacher and administration empowerment as the core of its coaching strategy. Change is hard, especially when shifting practices that have been in place for most of a teacher's career. Our teachers have expressed their gratitude for the culture of "non judgment" as they experienced new learning. An overarching theme of mutual respect has been present during the un-learning and new learning of this professional development experience. We are so grateful to have found RLD as our literacy transformation partner!
