Sandra Berkley Literacy Grant
Sandra Berkley grew up in Brazil and moved to the United States so that her two daughters could receive “the best education possible,” a dream she holds for all students.
In honor of Sandra and her dream, the Sandra Berkley Literacy Grant awards a total of $1,000 annually to an educator enrolling in the Foundational Literacy Practicum.
This grant can be given to one participant for the full $1,000 or split between two participants, with $500 awarded to each.
The grant will be awarded to the applicant(s) who best exemplifies Sandra’s strong desire to give back to and help others.
“This grant allowed me to complete a practicum with RLD that provided the essential knowledge and tools I needed to strengthen my teaching at the middle school level. As a direct result, I feel more confident than ever in my ability to pass along the gift of reading to my students.”
